I thought this was going to be a pretty picture of a flower but it turned out to be much scarier than I anticipated! It makes me uncomfortable looking at the spines and I can already feel the pricking just from the thought of touching it.
The cluster of dark pink seeds? coming from the flower in contrast to its bright white spines help add emphasis to the overall texture quality of the plant. In addition the green growths that seem to come out from behind the plant give a sense of movement as they curl and twist around the flower. The natural colours combined with the harsh spines make it almost seem unnatural, like it’s an alien plant
In ‘Armoured Up’ the background is nicely blurred to keep the focus on the plant. The photo is properly exposed and the colours are nice and vibrant as it’s like in nature. However the photo could’ve been cropped because the large negative space around the subject takes away from texture quality. If cropped the impact could be greatly increased.
